She then went to San Antonio, Texas in the spring of 1941 to spend her remaining days with family. She was buried after 20 August 1941 at Pine Mountain Cemetery, Damascus, Faulkner County, Arkansas; I have picture of grave marker.

William Ansel Wilkerson was born in 1791 at Granville County, North Carolina. He married Elizabeth Madison on 23 March 1816 at Granville County, North Carolina. William Ansel Wilkerson died on 25 May 1843 at Orange County, North Carolina.

Citations

William shows up in the records with several spellings, among them, Hansel, Ancil, Anson and Asa. Ansel had a daughter in 1816 whose mother was not Elizabeth. The daughter's name is not known, nor is it known whether she is one of the eleven children comprising the family of Ansel and Elizabeth Madson in the census records. Ansel and Elizabeth were married in March 1816, and apparently had a daughter born that same year. In addition to the daughter mentioned above and the six children shown on the Ansel's and Elizabeth's family sheet, census records show a daughter and a son born before 1820, a daughter born between 1825 and 1830, and another daughter born between 1830 and 1835.

Service in the War of 1812: The cities of North Carolina were lukewarm toward the War of 1812 at first. An early call for volunteers to join the army brought out no one from Granville County. Members of the militia had to be chosen by lot to fill the county's quota. That situation changed in the summer of 1814 when the British burned Washington, DC and threatened Norfolk,Virginia. Ansel and his brother, Elijah, joined a regiment of North Carolinians who were sworn into federal service at Norfolk, 1 November 1814. Unlike their fathers in the Revolution, the War of 1812 soldiers at Norfolk had plenty of food and warm clothes, but they were crowded into a camp in a cold, damp part of the world. Illness and death became such a problem in the camp that the North Carolinians were discharged and sent home in February 1815, Ansel and Elijah among them. James Satterwhite son of David also served during the War of 1812.

He was buried after 1 September 1881 at Cowan Cemetery, Red River County, Texas.

She was buried after 15 August 1870 at Bluff Springs Cemetery, East northeast of Diana, Harrison County, Texas; Have picture of grave marker made of rocks that has the letters L. S. on them. We have been told this is probably the grave of Letitia.
